GMS has developed a new type of billet heater for aluminium extrusion billets working on the base of permanent magnetic principle called HEH ((High Efficiency Heater).

This type of heater is working on different heating zones able of independent heating control over the single zone with final taper heating, and control of the billet temperature on each of the single zone.

The application is suitable for both heating cycle: isothermal and taper.

The system is patented.

Compared to traditional induction coil heating system HEH solution allow following advantages:

  • High efficiency: up to 85%.
  • Simple technological concept.
  • Limited overall dimension.
  • Very low maintenance operations and costs.
  • Precise billet temperatures in each of the heating zones due to the independent heating capability of the rotors.
  • Repeatability of the results either in isothermal and taper cycle.
  • High flexibility of positioning in existing plants (also after gas pre-heating).
  • No cooling water system required.
  • No power transformer unit required.
  • No converter unit required.
  • No capacitor banks required
